Alpine Village is located in the Lincoln-Woodstock Valley of New Hampshire's White Mountain Range, between two of the larger ski resorts in the area, Loon and Cannon Mountains. There is always something to do in Lincoln-Woodstock, as the area's slogan says, "Two Little Towns, One Big Adventure."
The nearest major city is Boston, Massachusetts which is located 130 miles Southeast of Alpine Village.
The White Mountains Region covers the northern portion of the state and consists of rugged mountains and narrow valleys. Mount Washington, the highest point in New Hamsphire and the highest point in New England, is part of the Presidential Range. It is 6,288 feet above sea level and home to some of the worst weather in the world. Five other peaks in the Presidential Range are over a mile in height.
The Franconia Range includes Profile Mountain which was host to the Old Man of the Mountain, a naturally created granite profile of an old man's face, near the peak. Unfortunately, the Old Man fell in May 2003; however pilgrims still flock to the site to witness "what was" via an interactive exhibit at the base of Franconia Notch.
The White Mountains are known for their ski resorts, hiking/biking/snowmobile trails, rock climbing challenges, rivers, water falls, lakes, streams, fishing ponds, natural attractions, man-made attractions, and much more.
All of these features are packed into one of the smallest states. New Hampshire only covers 9,351 square miles, making it the 46th largest of the 50 states. The Mean Elevation of the state of New Hampshire is 1,000 feet above sea level.
